In recent years representatives from Wycliffe, the Seed Company and YWAM have been discussing how we can work together in the Pacific, to benefit Bible translation. This group is now known as the Pacific Wa’a (wa’a is the Hawaiian word for canoe). These deliberations resulted last year in a YWAM team doing outreach on Palau (Micronesia). They focused on the Sonsorol and Tobi language groups, including collecting information language use and level of interest in Bible translation. We hope to have further discussions with members of these language groups.
In January Pacific Wa’a continued its journey in Fiji. More YWAM leaders from the Pacific are becoming involved in this initiative and we expect that more minority groups in the Pacific will become involved in Bible translation as a result of this new partnership.
