At the start of the first Isles of the Sea conference in Cairns, the chairman of the Pohnrakied translation committee, Caleb Gamule, presented the final chapters of the Kapingamarangi Old Testament to the consultant of this translation project, Nico Daams. Translator Kalio Tikepa had recently completed the last chapters of 2 Chronicles, thereby concluding the drafting of the entire Bible. The translation of the Bible started in 1996 with a team of 23 translators. The New Testament has been in print since 2000 and the Shorter Old Testament since 2004. It is hoped that the final stages of getting the Kapingamarangi Bible ready for publication will be completed during the next two years.
